Daringbadi is the longest and least forgiving departure on this list — six hours, much of it on hill roads through the Kandhamal ghats, with fog a genuine factor in winter mornings. This is the one route where we will actively push back on a pickup time that looks too optimistic, because the ghat section does not have a faster gear.
Timing & Highway Guidance
Leave Daringbadi about 8 hours before departure. The ghat descent cannot be rushed safely, and it is the first half of the drive, not the last.
- The ghat descent to Berhampur is winding and slow; winter fog can hold speeds down further in the early morning.
- Fuel and food stops are sparse until you reach the plains — the driver plans these rather than improvising.
- An SUV or Innova is the sensible choice here over a sedan, for ride comfort on the hill section as much as anything.
Fixed Departure Tariffs
