The Konark Sun Temple is Odisha’s architectural masterpiece — a 13th-century temple conceived as the colossal chariot of Surya, the Sun god, drawn by seven stone horses on 24 exquisitely carved wheels. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it draws travellers for its scale, its sculpture and the way the whole structure tracks the sun.

It sits on the coast between Puri and the airport, so it’s easily combined with Jagannath darshan and a beach day — the classic Odisha Golden Triangle.
