Aradi is a long way from Puri — over four hours each way — and outside Shravan it is a calm riverside temple that rewards the drive with an unhurried darshan. Inside Shravan it is something else altogether, with the road lined by walking pilgrims and the queue running for hours. Both versions are worth seeing; they need very different planning.
About the shrine
The great Shiva shrine of northern coastal Odisha, on the bank of the Baitarani at Aradi. Through the month of Shravan it draws enormous numbers of kanwariyas carrying river water, and the town gives itself over to the pilgrimage entirely.

Planning the trip
- Through Shravan (roughly July–August) expect very heavy traffic on the approach and a long queue — a pre-dawn start is essential.
- Mondays are the busiest day of any week here, Shravan or not.
- The route runs up NH16 past Cuttack and Bhadrak; it is a fast road but a long one.
Worth combining with the Baitarani ghat at Aradi if you have the time — tell us when you book and we will build it into the same fixed fare rather than adding it as an extra.
How the fare works
This is priced as a return darshan trip, not a one-way drop. The same cab and driver stay with you for the whole outing and wait at the temple while you queue — there is no per-hour waiting charge and no second fare for the journey back to Puri.

Temple entry, prasad, ropeway or boat charges where they apply are paid directly by you and are not part of the fare.
Travelling with elders
Most of the people we drive on these runs are on a pilgrimage with parents or grandparents, so the pace is set accordingly — no rushing the return, stops when they are needed, and an Innova recommended over a sedan on anything past two hours each way.
