Panchalingeswar is the furthest run on this list and the one we most often suggest doing as an overnight rather than a day trip. The lingams sit in a stream on the Nilagiri hillside, reached by a climb of stone steps beside the water, and the surrounding Kuldiha forest makes the area worth more than the two hours a rushed day trip would leave you.
About the shrine
Five Shiva lingams set in the bed of a hill stream, so that worship is performed with the water running continuously over them. The setting — a wooded hillside at the edge of the Kuldiha sanctuary — is unlike any other shrine in the state.

Planning the trip
- At 235 km this is a 13-hour day from Puri if done in one go — an overnight at Balasore or Chandipur is the better version.
- The final approach is a climb of steps alongside the stream; sensible footwear matters more here than at most shrines.
- The Kuldiha wildlife sanctuary and Chandipur beach are both close and pair naturally with an overnight.
Worth combining with Chandipur beach and the Kuldiha sanctuary on an overnight if you have the time — tell us when you book and we will build it into the same fixed fare rather than adding it as an extra.

This is priced as a return darshan trip, not a one-way drop. The same cab and driver stay with you for the whole outing and wait at the temple while you queue — there is no per-hour waiting charge and no second fare for the journey back to Puri.
