The Lingaraj Temple, dating to the 11th century, is Bhubaneswar’s largest and most revered shrine — dedicated to Harihara, a combined form of Shiva and Vishnu — and the centrepiece of the city’s historic Ekamra Kshetra temple circuit. Its towering spire is the finest expression of Kalinga temple architecture.

It’s the natural starting point for a temple-city day that takes in Khandagiri–Udayagiri and Dhauli — all within a short drive.

Lingaraj Temple

The 11th-century temple to Harihara (Shiva-Vishnu), its 55 m spire dominating the old town — the finest example of Kalinga temple architecture.

Mukteswar Temple
